About Me
Hello. My name is Simone S. Jo, and design is my passion because it is where art and commerce intersect.
I learned that I love design while working on the yearbook staff in high school. I loved organizing information and using images, graphics and typefaces to enhance the text. In college, I took a detour by majoring in English and held a variety of jobs after college. Some of the companies I worked for were an internet company, an architecture firm, a furniture manufacturer and, at one point, I was interested in consulting or investment banking. I also did a lot of temping. This gave me exposure to a variety of people and industries, and it probably contributes to my ease with all types of people and settings.
But there came a point when I realized that life is just too short not to do what I love so I enrolled at the local community college and took drawing, painting and photography courses. I explored all the ways that I could make money with painting or photography, but it seemed too uncertain for me.
One day, on a drive back from Santa Barbara, it hit me: work as a graphic designer. There's a good-sized market for graphic designers and not as much difficulty establishing oneself. Besides, I really like technology.
So after 5 years of practice, I have knowledge and skill in both print and web design. My computer skills include proficiency in Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash. I am proficient in HTML and CSS.
